The sun shone on the 10 members who attended this first for GCCG, the show held in the picturesque village, home to Matthewsons (Bangers & Cash). In addition to the Yorkshire members we had a member from Ayrshire, Scotland, come to say hello. Four hundred classic cars were on show along with an array of trade stalls.
Seb and Ralph won 1st prize in the Dog Show, sadly Peter and Queenie were robbed only getting 5th place!!
My ‘Car of the Show’ was a 1963 Riley 1.5. This model was built between 1957 and 1965 based on the Morris Minor floor pan, suspension and steering. Fitted with a 1489cc B Series engine with twin SU 1.5 inch carbs. The Riley was the sportier version of the Wolseley equivalent. It had extra equipment over the Wolseley, leather seats and larger Girling brakes.
