GCCG organises over 100 events a year ranging from monthly pub nights across our regions to multi-day international rallies. A lot of our events are one day visits to local attractions, usually involving a scenic drive and an eating opportunity. We also have club stands at an ever increasing number of public car shows as well as an annual GCCG Members Car Show.
There's a regularly updated full list of events available to Members in the Members Area and members also receive a monthly e-newsletter called All Torque with latest news of events.
Here are some typical GCCG past events to give you a flavour:
Many events involve scenic drives that allow members to be passengers in others’ cars. The most memorable on the south coast was Rita and Pieter’s Bank Holiday Treater where we drove 90 miles along the A272, which is something of an anachronistic timewarp running almost exclusively single carriageway for its entire course through a largely undeveloped rural cross-country route through pretty towns and villages.
Down in Devon several members went along to the Powderham Historic vehicle gathering. Twenty members attended both the Austin Morris day at Brooklands and the Ford national at Beaulieu. In the Midlands the annual BMC and BL rally in Peterborough saw us with almost 40 cars, and shows in Hebden Bridge, Tatton Park and Doncaster also drew a good turnout.
Various historic properties across the country were visited including Homewood in Surrey, Hughenden Manor and Broughton House in the Midlands. Other less conventional venues have included gin distilleries and a Rhubarb farm. Several weekend long trips included a weekend in the lake district, Easter weekend near Paris. And finally, to expand our repertoire, 40 members enjoyed a day out on a 1963 AEC double decker bus.
