Event Review

Oh what a splendid day for a GCCG picnic. The Kimbolton Classic Car Show and Country Fair seemed to bigger than ever before.

The GCCG group was extremely well represented by regular and new members, this year Peter and Stephen assisted by Leigh and Philip arrived extra early in order to secure the spot under the beautiful canopy of trees in the park. Kimbolton Castle is actually a school, but the grounds and along with some magnificent trees make it a super setting for the car show.

The County Fair part was light entertainment for some along with a vast range of stands and booths selling goodies, strangely enough for a car show there was no one selling car related items – some of us were actually in need for some new dusters!

Our cars as usual depicted the wonderful range of cars and styles that make the GCCG such a wonderful club.

Everyone who wanted to join in with the picnic brought a fabulous selection for delicious treats – all calorie-free of course!

A Hawker Hurricane did several passes of the Castle, the roar of a Merlin engine was wonderful.

David Shadbolt’s Prizes

David Shadbolt along with his MG 1100 was selected by a group to be put on display in front of the Castle and to be judged by a public vote. Monty the MG came second to a beautiful Alfa Romeo, not mine I hasten to add! His prize was a bottle of bubbly and a medal.

Thank you to all who made it another splendid day.

We look forward to the 2027 picnic at Kimbolton!
